I had the pleasure of creating the wedding cake for the legendary Dr. J ( Julius Erving) and his lovely bride Dorys.
Silver blossoms with gold centers spiraling around and up the cake. the florist was to add flowers but I think it was beautiful just the way it was.
What a beautiful day for a wedding!

The Denny's sign and the Bobble Head bride and grooms topped this cake off perfectly!
Newlyweds Aaron and Katie Tomberlin wanted to share their fun spirits with their guests on May 28th.
Secil did a great job at decorating this one!

I was delighted to be able to create this design for Lisa and Geoff this past Saturday at the Marriott Evergreen in lovely Stone Mountain.
The suitcases had a luggages tag representing Geoff, Lisa, the British Virgin Islands and a "Just Married" tag at the top. The cakes were covered in ivory fondant and trimmed in the wedding colors of green and orange. such a fun cake to make!

We were honored to be commissioned by TheKnot.com to create a version of the Royal Wedding Cake to be featured in a segment of CNN International, live a few hours before the actual wedding of Kate and William.
The cake was a 5 tier, fondant covered design with multitudes of cream and white flowers, the House of Windsor Coat of Arms and the monogram of William and Kate.

The result was a very romantic and exquisite cake!

I have always loved cake stands. they are a perfect compliment to a lovely cake.
Some of them look easy enough to make.

With the holidays upon us, we are making the plans for our First Annual Gingerbread Workshop!
I have 15 years of gingerbread making experience from small houses to giant room size gingerbread houses!
We will be conducting workshops at the cake salon during the month of December for a parent /child team to decorate and take home.
Gingerbread is so much fun and I always wanted to be an architect when I was a kid!

It seems as though we have been inundated with cupcakes! Almost every weekend, there are wedding cupcakes, baby shower cupcakes, bridal shower cupcakes, and even 1st anninversary cup cakes!

I am thrilled to be finished with winter! The colors of spring are everywhere! Our brides have chosen some beautiful colors for their cakes.

Sameera Warsi and Ismall Azeem incorporated deep red and gold into their beautiful cake on April 4th. Walter Nemeth and his team at the Georgian Terrace were great as always!

The wedding of Ankit and Meghna Patel on April 3rd was so lovely and colorful. The reception was held at the Marriott at Pleasant Hill. The plum and blue colors of the cake looked stunning against the colors on the stage.

We are really getting busy. Alice, Secil, John and I are all set to take on another week of great cakes.

Another colorful cake was for the wedding reception of
Tzipporah Gerson and Marc Miller. The March 7th wedding
reception was held at Ivy Hall in Roswell Georgia.

The final touch of the flowers completed the cake.
I just love the design the Tzipporah, Marc and I
came up with together. A very unique cake indeed.

The first was a fun 70's disco cake for Belinda and Paula 's 50th birthday party bash.

The party was held on March 6th at the Cascade Club in Atlanta.
The disco ball said it all!

2010 is here and we are looking forward to a fabulous year in cakes! We have added a wonderful Key Lime cake with a Key lime french cream to our menu. It is so delicious and is getting rave reviews!

It is a great time of year for us to start creating new displays for the upcoming bridal season. So many ideas, I just don't know where to begin.

The excitement of the Get Married TV episode has mellowed. We are gearing up for a Bridal show this weekend at the Marriott Marquis, downtown Atlanta. It is Sunday, Jan. 24th and is sponsored by Perfect Wedding Guide. It will be another fun day meeting so many brides!

After going through the freezing weather, roads closed, icy patches causing so many accidents, I am ready for some warmer weather!

Perfect Wedding Cake

I still haven't decided how to incorporate the name of my 6 1/2 yr old business "Unforgettable Wedding Cakes" with our 2008 acquisition of "Perfect Wedding Cake". Both "companies" have a following, so we don't want to get rid of one of the names, I am not sure if we change names or just keep the 2 of them. I wrestle with this decision occasionally.
It is nice having the 2 websites, more exposure and more picture space.
It is something I will think more about in 2010, but for now, enjoy both websites: www.unforgettableweddingcakes.com and www.perfectweddingcake.com !

A fabulous year coming to an end!

It has been such an eventful year! So many wonderful brides and some fabulous cakes have made the year so special. My husband came on full time, enabling him to quit his truck driving adventures. Now he our baker, delivery man, accountant, does web maintenance and over all a God send!
One of the last exciting moments of the year came when I was asked by "Get Married" TV show, to participate in a small cake challenge. I was filmed at my salon, making a wedding cake for a mystery bride. The next day, myself and the other cake designer met the bride at the "Big Reveal". This is the photo of the "winning design". The episode will air on WE TV, Jan 9th at 9:30 am. Very exciting, indeed!

We are looking forward to a very busy 2010, the wedding cake orders just keep coming in. Some very interesting cakes are on the agenda.

November is almost a memory. It has been a busy and exciting fall. Our youngest son Joshua was married on October 24th to Tiffany Simpson, the new Mrs. Oskirka.
We had so much fun designing their wedding cake. It was all captured in Tiffany's words when she saw the cake: "It is exactly what we wanted". These words grabbed my heart. It is what I always love to hear but they were so much more special when my daughter-in-law spoke them.

Their cake tiers were fresh strawberry cake with a chocolate ganache filling and almond cake with a strawberry french cream filling. Many guests got a slice of each.

It was definitely a busy weekend! Sept 18th, 19th and 20th, we had 12 weddings and several groom's cakes. Chef Amanda is still feeling a bit out of sorts but being the trooper she is, she made it through the weekend.
We had two 5 tier wedding cakes that required a 2 person delivery. It is quite daunting to deliver the big ones when you are doing it on your own, so Amanda and I delivered the the five tier cakes together.
The first "big one" went to St. Peter Chanel Church for Jennifer and Shane's wedding. The hot pink and black were fabulous on the cake and in the room.

The next "big one" was delivered to the Old Towne Athletic Club for Stephanie and Tyler. The light pink and white wedding cake was a 5 tier square.
Shane's groom's cake took hours to complete but was well worth the time. It top tier is a replica of Tech Tower. I carved the tower from styrofoam but then covered it in fondant. The tower sat upon a chocolate fudge iced cake.

On Sunday, the 20th, we delivered a very fun cake to Villa Christina for Natalie and John.Their plan was for an outside wedding. It was a shame that it was raining the entire weekend. (We know how that big rain changed things!). Natalie wanted a fairytale, Alice-in-Wonderland cake. Her colors for the cake were deep purple, champagne and gold. Sandra, Natalie's mother, found the cutest ornament and we were able to match the colors of the champagne/gold. I just love how the cake came to life, step by step.

We had many great cakes this past month and are looking forward to another month of exciting cakes with new challenges!

As the owner of Unforgettable Wedding cakes andPerfect wedding cake, I am very excited to now be blogging!
I am blessed to be able to create some awesome cakes and I would like to share the experiences.
The plan is to post about my favorite cakes of the current month.

A very fun and challenging cake that I made, was for the August 15th wedding of Matt and Jessica. Their wedding was at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Fayetteville, Ga.

Matt's mother came to me with the idea of what she wanted for her son's groom's cake and together, we came up with a plan. It was to be a Georgia bull dog, "Uga", wearing a sweater, sitting on the football field. The cake needed to serve over 160 guests, so the base was a 16" square cake that Uga sat on.
This cake was going to be a bit interesting to create because of the way Ms. Rudy wanted it decorated. But I was up to the challenge!
Uga's legs where 9"support columns, partially covered in Rice Krispie treats, but the rest of the body was all chocolate cake, with red colored chocolate icing as a filling. He was totally covered in fondant. Special supports had to be engineered, but I won't give away all of my secrets!
I was working on the cake for hours and at 2 a.m. , the cookie dog bones that were baked to go on the sides were too heavy and started pulling away from the icing, so I had to come up with plan B, which was making fondant dog bones for the side instead. Finally, at 3am, Uga was finished!
I hope to get a better front view, but I hope you like it as much as I do!
